Llandudno train station refurbished to old glories.
Yesterday, Aberconwy AM Janet Finch-Saunders was in attendance at the opening of the revamped Llandudno train station.
Welsh Government Minister for Finance, Jane Hutt AM was also in attendance to officially open the station, along with staff from Network Rail, Arriva Trains Wales, the Railway Heritage Trust and local dignitaries and residents.
Janet Finch-Saunders AM writes, "The £5.2m project had taken several years to complete due to the nature of the complex funding arrangements between a partnership of Welsh Government, European Regional Development funding, TAITH and Conwy County Borough Council, the latter of whom were been very instrumental in bringing this development to fruition. I would like to place on record my thanks to the team within the local authority led by Mrs Barbara Burchell for their unstinting hard work and determination to see the project finalised."
Janet Finch-Saunders AM further commented: “I am delighted to have seen the opening of the revamped station. The renovation programme has both preserved the key elements of the old station, giving them a new lease of life, as well as installing new elements ensuring that the station is fit for the 21st century.
“It is a great addition to the town, welcoming visitors and residents to Llandudno. I look forward to travelling from it as soon as possible.”
