Bangor Aberconwy

Like all the constituencies covered by the North West Wales Conservative Federation, Bangor Aberconwy is a UK Parliamentary constituency.  The Assembly seat was first contested in the 2007 Welsh Assembly elections, the Parliamentary seat is newly created and will be the first to be contested in the next General Election.  

The new constituency was created from the former Arfon, Aberconwy and Clwyd West constituencies following the 2023 Parliamentary Constituencies Review which was conducted by the Boundary Commission for Wales. The main population centres in Bangor Aberconwy are Bangor, Llandudno, Conwy, Llandudno Junction, Penmaenmawr, Llanfarifechan and Llanrwst.

Bangor Aberconwy sits within Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council and Gwynedd Council and is made up of the following electoral divisions: Bryn, Capello, Conwy, Craig-Y-Don, Conwy, Deganwy, Gogarth, Gower, Llansanffraid, Marl, Moisten, Pandy, Pant-yr-Afon/Penmaenan, Penrhyn, Pensarn, Tudno, Deiniol, Demi, Garth, Gerlan, Glyder, Hendre, Hirael, Marchog, Menai (Bangor), Ogwen, Pentir, Tregarth & Mynydd Llandygai.

On the evening of 20th May, Robin Millar MP revealed the result of the “pet picture” competition launched on his Facebook site on 8th May. During Robin’s popular weekly “Facebook Live” session, Macsen – the lovable Collie belonging to Sophie of Llandudno Junction was revealed as the favourite with a special honorary mention made of Barkley and Poppy – the adorable pets of Sandra who lives in Llandudno.

Care home testing U-turn welcomed.

The Welsh Conservatives have welcomed the u-turn by the Welsh Labour-led Government to start testing residents and staff within care homes where an outbreak of Covid19 is occurring and potentially in neighbouring care homes as well. The new additions to the testing regime in Wales will also see repeat testing the following week.

Twenty-percent increase in calls to NSPCC during lockdown.

Responding to the report by the NSPCC that helplines have seen a 20-percent increase in calls about children since the lockdown started, the Shadow Welsh Minister for Children and Young People – Janet Finch-Saunders – said, “In many ways, it’s not surprising that there has been an increase in reports. Children have been isolated from their friends and schools now for weeks.”
