Guto Bebb attended Llandudno’s VJ Day commemoration event, representing the people of Aberconwy, on 15th August 2015. 2015 marks the 70th Anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Japan announcing its surrender on 15th August 1945. Guto walked with military veterans, serving forces personnel and members of the cadet forces from Llandudno’s Pier to the Cenotaph where a short remembrance and wreath laying service was held. Following the remembrance service, Guto and Llandudno Mayor Cllr. Frank Bradfield inspected the military parade before joining those involved for coffee.
After the event Guto commented, “I was humbled to be invited to represent Aberconwy residents and walk with past and present service personnel at this poignant event. It is important that we remember the ultimate price paid by hundreds of thousands of people around the globe to defend our values of freedom and democracy that are intrinsic to humans everywhere.”
